ENTREPRENEUR SURVEY

The WIB sponsored and HSU Economic Department delivered a first annual survey of entrepreneurs. They interviewded about 900 start up business owners to learned how they got started and what is helping them to succeed. Read the report.

YOUNG ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM

YEP: Humboldt is an innovative ideas competition new this year to Humboldt County.  Anyone age 14-27 can submit an idea for an innovative product or service.  Ideas can be about anything.  You don’t have to prove you can make it happen, you just have to have an idea.  Registration closes for this year’s competition on Friday, January 27th.

Prizes Include:

$1,000 Grand Prize

$500 for best 14-18-year old category (1)

$500 for best 19-27-year old category (1)

$300 for audience favorite (1)

$100 for honorable mentions

The CA Center for Rural Policy at Humboldt State University published an excellent study on Childcare and the Target of Opportunity industries in our region that rely on childcare.
